CYDD was established in 1989. Its aim is to support the modernisation of society in Turkey through secularism, progressive education and by offering equal opportunities for children and young people in accessing schooling and modern educational tools. CYDD has been successfully running campaigns to increase school enrollment of girls in particular, and has to date given scholarships to over 120,000 children, mostly girls. Dalyan currently supports two areas with CYDD:
- Mentoring program for the university student scholars of CYDD that are soon to enter working life. During one year they regularly meet one-to-one with their mentor to discuss about their personal development, career and life choices with the aim to strengthen their life skills and resilience.
- The scholarship program “I have a daughter in Anatolia, she wants to become a teacher” for four years. This program supports the family of the child, with the aim of stabilising the family’s financial situation and thus ensuring the attendance of the girl in school.
