Founded in 2002 in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand, by Neelam Besra from the Santhal tribe, Jharkhand Mahila Uthan aims to address the underrepresentation of women in local governance. Drawing from her own challenges, Neelam established the organization to capacitate women and adolescents in her community.
