17000 ft Foundation, established in 2012, works in high-altitude frontier regions of the Indian Himalayas to strengthen public education systems. Operating across Ladakh and Sikkim, the organization transforms remote government schools and Anganwadis to improve children’s learning prospects, reduce rural migration, and empower border communities.
Through its Holistic Development Program in Sikkim, supported by Dalyan, 17000 ft builds a connected learning continuum from early childhood through Grade 8 across 12 government schools and 50 feeder Anganwadis. The initiative supplies play-based learning materials for pre-schoolers, strengthens foundational literacy and numeracy, and establishes solar-powered DigiLabs and libraries to build digital literacy and a vibrant reading culture.
To ensure lasting impact, 17000 ft provides structured mentorship for teachers, headmasters, and Anganwadi workers. By activating school management committees and aligning with state education departments, it fosters deep community ownership and sustainable education systems in isolated mountain villages.
